The Evan Wood Quartet+ performs a variety of music with an emphasis on preserving the tradition of jazz while also pushing its boundaries. An important part of the bands Evan develops is the use of modern music as a canvas for new improvisation, a parallel idea to the origins of jazz and improvisational music.
These bands typically perform original arrangements of music from all eras including jazz standards, hip-hop, house, rock, RnB, and anything else that sparks creativity within the group. From Miles Davis and Tony Williams to Slum Village and J Dilla, Evan's bands bring a unique approach and concept to the jazz tradition.
Led by Evan Wood, The Blueprint consists of Michael Carabello on keys and Tim Weisman on electric bass. Drawing inspiration from groups like Slum Village, The Robert Glasper Experiment, Herbie Hancock, Chris Dave and the Drumheadz, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience, this band focuses on highly improvisational groove-based music. Evan Wood & The Blueprint perform very exciting, unique, and energetic shows.
